The Gingerbread Boy

The GINGERBREAD BOY. NY: Dutton (1943). (6 3/4 X 8 3/4"), spiral backed pictorial boards, Featuring 6 tab operated moveable plates and other color illustrations throughout the text by JULIAN WEHR. 


Most of these scans are of my personal copy of this book which I purchased in 2019.
It is in pretty rough shape with the cover falling off while I was scanning the book
and several of the animations are missing. The colors are still vibrant and beautiful.

This book was formed by folding a large sheet of card stock into fourths, resulting in a four page book that is printed on one side only. The first page or front cover has a full color illustration of the Gingerbread Boy in the process of being created by the old lady. The second page has a full color illustration of the Gingerbread Boy emerging from the oven to the surprise of the old lady. This page is made special by three color illustrated handkerchiefs that are tucked into slots on this page and which further illustrate the story. The third page has a full color tab activated moveable by Julian Wehr of the Gingerbread Boy and the big fat pig. The final page or rear panel has the text of the story printed on it.
